I was delightfully encouraged when I watched the DEFEAT THE MANDATES rally in L.A. this past Sunday. The crowd size exceeded everyone’s expectations. They did an excellent job of unifying a diverse crowd which the newspapers, who chose to report on it, described as “peaceful”. I shouldn’t have been surprised however to see the LA Times’s reporting - which described, in their headline, the crowd size as “hundreds” although in the body of the article it said “more than a thousand”. That’s an interesting way to say it as it’s technically true. I suggest we
I’ll probably never vote Democrat again. What they’ve done the last two years is too awful. Philadelphia just reimposed their mask mandate! At this stage how could anyone think that’s a good idea? What is going on? What happened to the Democratic Party? No republicans are reimposing restrictions!
Oh “Cases” are up. So what?
This fall all across the nation we had huge infection spikes. But still hospitals were not overwhelmed! At this point it’s a cold.
If the mandate comes back to Oregon, which seems inevitable, I honestly don’t know what I’ll do. I can’t take this insanity anymore.
True, partisan politics should be kept out of these kinds of events, if only to widen the base of support. But’s OK to refer to God as long the sentiment is universal. Even Democrats say “God bless America.”
That said I don’t think there are any Democrats currently in office or running for election who have spoken out against mandatory COVID-19 vaccination or for full civil rights for those who refuse such medication. Are there?
I agree with all your points about keeping god, politics, hostile chants, etc. out of this. Yet another lifelong Democrat here, way back to Goldwater. Agree with all the horrors you describe about the GOP. But. It’s all the good liberals, including the ACLU, that is driving this. There is some weird self righteousness going on. If Trump was president it would all be reversed. The Dems would be outraged “anti-vaxxers.” I don’t think you can compare actions taken in 2020 with subsequent actions because so much new info has come out and the situation has evolved dramatically. An awful choice, but I’m now a one issue voter. And that issue is sovereignty over our own bodies and I’m afraid we’ve got a better shot with the Repubs, if only because they’ll want to do the opposite of what all the good liberals are doing. And all the other horrors they’ll come up with is a price I’m willing to pay if there’s even a shot they’ll change the course of the Dems idiocy. It’s a real bad choice.

EXCELLENT! Thank you. I am a "former Democrat" too. I think you should share your article with Naomi Wolf. I will too.
